Obviously, Natural Disasters are terrible things, which cause death and destruction, but some people view them as a positive force. For Example Planetsave claims "Natural Disasters Provide People with a Greater Respect & Appreciation for Nature, Natural Disasters Give Communities a Chance to Improve Infrastructure and Re-Prioritize Community Needs, and Natural Disasters Might Have Some Positive Ecological Effects" The reasoning behind the claim of providing a greater respect for nature is that theory that in seeing the brute power of mother nature through a natural disaster, one will become more appreciative of nature. The reason behind the claim that natural disasters help communities is that opportunities present after disasters to do things like rebuild shoddy homes, provide new jobs and health services to impoverished communities, and improve natural, ecological buffers. For Example Hurston writes "Ah got uh job uh work. Help clearin' up things in general, and then dey goin' build dat dike sho nuff. Dat ground got to be cleared off too. Plenty work. Dey needs mo' men even."So Tea Cake made three hearty weeks." (Hurston 173).The last claim is justifyed by the following statement from Duke University, "Without hurricanes, barrier islands on coast lines and their ecosystems would not survive. Of course while these are some positive benefits, it should be noted that hurricanes and the flooding they can cause might affect ecosystems negatively and, of course, harm the lives of a significant amount of people"
It is interesting to see things from a different point of veiw, however natural disasters still have a negative impact of people, and the bad effects definetly outweighs the good.
